Week 4 Workout results

Week 4 didn't go as well as expected but I did manage to drop 2-1/2 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained back another pound because of traveling. I haven't mastered how to order when you have to eat in restaurants or roadside stands. The little town of Spanish is in the middle of nowhere so any time you have a doctor's appointment you have to travel 1 - 2 hours. Then if you include wait times once you arrive and shopping because you're in the city, you're usually gone for a minimum of six hours. This week we had appointments two days in a row in two different cities. It does play havoc with your exercise routine and your healthy diet. But, today I'm back at it.

I'm still quite pleased with what I've accomplished, 7 pounds in 4 weeks. I'll take it. I've pretty much cut as much refined sugar out of my diet as I can. I still continue to eat fresh fruit and vegetables daily and I don't count that sugar. I still use sugar for my coffee because I refuse to use substitutes but I've cut that down from 3 teaspoons to two and I'll gradually cut that down also. My biggest sugar fix is Pepsi but I've cut that down from 2 or 3 cans a day to one can every other day. So, as far as I'm concerned I'm progressing.

This week I start adding some strength training to my schedule so losing weight may slow down but as long as I lose inches I'm a happy camper. Some time today or tomorrow I'll redo my measurements so I can actually see the difference in the numbers. I have to be honest with you though, it doesn't matter about the inches, how I feel is what counts. Being able to get up and down the stairs without any pain is amazing. I have more energy to do the things that need to be done and the things that I want to do. I want to start taking short walks and slowly build it up but that will have to wait a couple of weeks. It's the beginning of blackfly season here and they are nasty. These little suckers take a chunk out of you and then go sit on a log to eat it. Thankfully they don't last long.

Well, that's it in a nutshell. I'm still feeling good about my choices. I'm still focused. I'm still motivated. And, if I keep this up I could be down to my goal weight by the end of August. The first month has been a success as far as I'm concerned.

Have a great day and remember to keep moving. Love yourself enough to do whatever it takes to be strong and healthy. Every little success will only motivate you to keep going and keep at it. Let me know what you do to stay strong. I'm always interested in what others do to stay focused. Until next week.
